Information For Travellers Using Glasgow International Airport

Glasgow International Airport is located 8 miles west of the City Centre, close to the towns of Paisley and Renfrew. Glasgow is the busiest of Scotland's three main airports with a £55 million expansion programme during the 1980's increasing the terminal size by 70% to now cater for 8.8 million passengers a year. Over 40 airlines and tour operators currently use its two runways flying to over 90 destinations, and further expansion is planned to increase annual passenger numbers to an estimated 16 million.

There are two terminal buildings at the airport; the main one and terminal 2 (T2), which was built in 2004 in response to the ever increasing numbers of passengers. If you are departing from the airport, the main terminal is spread over three floors with check in desks for domestic and international departures on the ground floor. The departures lounge is on the first floor and has a large number of retail outlets and a duty free shop where you can purchase most last minute items for your journey. When you arrive at the airport, hiring a car is the best option to get around, There are four major car hire companies located at the airport next to the UK baggage reclaim area which is in the ground floor arrivals area. If you prefer to get a taxi from Glasgow Airport, then the rank is situated at the front of the terminal building close to arrivals. Taxis at the airport are managed by Cabfly and operate 24 hours a day.

The lost property service is in the check-in hall on the ground floor (main terminal building). It is operated by THS and the desk is open from 09:30 to 16:00 every day. If you require a left luggage/storage facility there is one just outside UK arrivals and they are open 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
